Reed diffusers offer a smokeless scent

Candles are a great option for removing unpleasant odors from your home, but having an open flame isn’t always a great idea. A flameless solution that recently has grown in popularity is a reed diffuser. It’s a bottle containing scented oil with reeds dipped halfway into the oil. The oil soaks into the reeds, gently perfuming the room.

Pacifica Perfume has a new line of reed diffusers that come in 12 fruity or flowery scents, each with a patterned glass bottle that reflects the scent of the diffuser. Pacifica’s scents are free of phthalates, which according to the Environmental Working Group have been found to disrupt the endocrine system, and the fragrances can last up to six months. The glass container is recyclable and the reeds can be composted when done with the scent.

It might be difficult to choose your favorite with scents like Tahitian Gardenia, a “vintage-inspired blend of gardenia, jasmine, sweet orange and tea leaves”; Mediterranean Fig, a “sensual, complex take on fig with palm, cyclamen, moss and clove set in sandalwood”; and Persian Rose, an “elegant blend of Bulgarian rose, subtle violet, myrrh and delicate fruit.

The diffusers are $16 each at pacificaperfume.com.
