High-priced celebrity homes in Hawaii periodically go on the market, and it’s rare for the listing agent to publicize a famous client’s identity.
But the Realtor who has the listing for a Maui home owned by big-wave surfer Laird Hamilton and his wife, professional volleyball player and model Gabrielle Reece, not only disclosed who her clients were, she sent out a press release.
“We just wanted to get it out because really the property is for someone who is passionate about surfing and someone who understands Peahi,” she said, referring to the Hawaiian name for the Jaws big wave surf break off Paia.
Hamilton built the house on the 10-acre property so he could surf Jaws whenever he wanted. The four-bedroom, four-bath house was also featured on MTV’s “Cribs” about five years ago. The asking price is $2.75 million.
Spencer says Hamilton and Reece are selling because they recently bought a larger piece of property adjacent to the Jaws house. They also own a home in Malibu, Calif.
“They’re also building a home on Kauai in Hanalei, so they felt it was time to sell the property on Maui and move forward,” Spencer said.
